One too many bluescreens!
I’m a big fan of isometric art styles, but I didn’t want to go with the typical “low poly” that you usually see with isometric renderings (for this project at least). I modelled some accurate PC components based on some of the gear I had as well as using reference images from the internet.

I took some liberties with the colours but it was a fun challenge to create the mesh top.

For the animation I wanted to have everything appear in an interesting way so I animated the geo to slide in, with a little extra rotation on the PC to spice it up a bit. Because the animation was so quick, I was trying to think of a way of adding another element to the scene without going over the top. Windows decided to inspire me with a helpful BSOD later that evening. Thankfully my actual PC did not catch fire, I just added a few too many zeros to a particle simulation I was running.
I didn’t include the wires in the final render as I thought it was a little distracting. I had two systems set up where they either extruded out and joined up with the device, or were already connected and had dynamics so they bounced around. In the end I thought this just looked a little neater.
Easy enough to set up a small scale Pyro simulation behind the computer, and using Redshift's texture switcher it was easy to change the image on the screen.
As always, a tidy scene file, is a happy scene file!
