My first attempt at photorealistic interior visualisation!
I wanted to practice and improve my photorealistic rendering and modelling with an interior scene. As I do spend a lot of time at my desk I thought it would be handy to model the things around me as I focus on making sure my reproductions were faithful to the reference.
All of the assets in the scene apart from the plants were modelled by myself. A lot of the geometry is quite simple but I tried to focus on some little nuances to really sell the shot. Small things such as the chain on the blinds and the detail on the window handle I think really grounds the shot in reality.
I particularly enjoyed playing with the caustics of the beer glass and the Edison light behind it. I’d not had much of a chance to play with caustics in Redshift before so that was a fun couple of hours to learn and perfect!
I’ve added some stills below to showcase some of the objects in the scene.
I did all the texturing in Houdini, the wall texture is just a procedural noise for example. The photos on the left are from my collections and the poster on the right was made by a designer friend!
I’d love to know what you think!
As always, a tidy scene file, is a happy scene file!
